This book is a collection of essays on topics concerning the existence of humankind on Earth to aid readers in personal reflection and transformation. Essay authors have been chosen to write personal essays on areas of their expertise or interest. It is broken into four sections: Self, Humankind, Religion and Earth. It is very personal, subjective and it challenges readers to do their own Deep Dive to come up with their own conclusions on the various topics. It is not a political book, about politics nor should it viewed from a political lens. How did we get here? Why are we here? What are we/me doing here?Where are we going from here? These are existential questions worth exploring. They all have to do with our existence on Earth. Will we definitively answer them for you?No. That's impossible-for many reasons. But we will try to help you answer them for yourself. How we got here, why we are here, and where are we going from here, is merely conjecture. Atheists (those who do not believe in God) will say that our being here is merely the confluence of chance, matter, and time.Theists (those who believe in God) believe that we are human manifestations in the image of God, the creator of all things.Their differences of opinion are a matter of debate for another forum, so we will leave those questions for scientists, philosophers, and religious scholars. We will focus on what we are doing here, because that is the most answerable by using provable, factual data. We have a pretty good idea of what we are doing here, because our collective, human actions have historical imprints and attendant consequences. Those actions, over time, also result in verifiable change: change to humankind, the planet Earth, and all living things on Earth. Those changes are often referred to as evolution. But, contrary to popular belief, human evolution is not on a vertical line of continual improvement, since there are periods of growth and decline over millions of years. While scientific evolution is incremental (built upon previous knowledge), human evolution is not, because the human experience is an ongoing experiment.Maybe the better question is: Why are we doing what we are doing here?Another way to phrase that is asking the question: What is our collective purpose? Then, Diving Deeper, we occasionally ask ourselves about our individual purpose. Our book is, therefore, a Self-Socratic Endeavor-an exploration of ourselves by questioning the choices we make in our lives.A byproduct of "What is mankind doing and why?" is "What are the impacts of what we are doing here on Earth?"We will be discussing both- our individual purpose and impact and our collective, societal purpose and impact. These questions led to the idea for this book, which I am writing for my kids and their kids: Never stop exploring. Always be curious. Seek adventure. Work together. The essays in this book will discuss those issues and components of human nature, behavior, relationships, emotions, motivations, and contexts.

Who am I? Why are we here? What is the meaning of this? These questions and many others haunted me during my last year in the military. Throughout those months, I had felt an odd sense of meaninglessness, in which I felt the joy slipping away from me. Day after day, I felt as if I'm questioning my existence and that of others. I fell into despair and depression. But I decided I want to confront those feelings and look for the answer I must find. So I ventured on a journey to seek answers to those timeless questions. I read anything that might help me make sense of it all, studied different philosophies and searched for the wisdom of those who ventured on a similar journey of their own. Eventually, during the last two years, I found answers and insights that helped me rise from the deepest abyss I ever felt. Throughout this book, I share the insights and knowledge I gathered, hoping it will be of great use to others. This book explores some of the most challenging questions we all must face in life, and I hope it will give you at least some of the value I gained through my personal conquest.

Chechik takes his unsuspecting readers on a journey throughout the human mind, from its deepest and darkest caverns to its brightest heights. In the great tradition of Platonic dialogues, the author, in his very first literary work, demonstrates surprisingly mature approach to the great questions haunting the human mind since the dawn of philosophy: the finiteness of human lives; individual's struggle with the forces of socialization; inter-generational relations; and the limits of human perceptions. Each of the dialogues in this book, between the author's adolescent and mature selves, is concluded with a thought-provoking question addressed to the readers.

The book is an attempt to bring together what are often seen as incommensurable scientific and philosophical positions. Its core argument is that a main reason for the divisions about what constitutes scientific knowledge relates to disagreements on philosophical issues. The book explores what these disagreements are about, and discusses whether they can be overcome. Taking a historical perspective, the book traces the divides in science back to three main philosophical traditions: realism, idealism, and scepticism. It maps how these have inspired three main current positions in science: logical empiricism, phenomenology, and sociology of scientific knowledge. The book is intended for a general audience concerned with today’s debates on scientific knowledge and society. It will be useful for students and researchers studying philosophy of science, sociology of scientific knowledge, realism, phenomenology, positivism, logical empiricism, analytical philosophy, and sustainable scientific knowledge.

Positive Psychology Across the Life Span provides an insight into how we are affected by the different stages of adult development and gives us the opportunity to change through choice rather than leaving change to chance. The science of positive psychology offers a wealth of research and evidence-based interventions and shares insights into which habits and behaviours contribute to how to live a flourishing life. This book aims to extend that knowledge by introducing and incorporating key aspects of existential and humanistic psychology and explores positive psychology with a lifespan perspective. It goes beyond theory to look at practical application, with insightful reflective questions. Whilst acknowledging the differences and disagreements between some of the key figures in the subject areas of the book, it seeks to highlight the areas where there is agreement and congruence which have been previously overlooked or ignored. The book will be essential reading for students and practitioners of positive psychology as well as other mental health professionals.
